Summary:
This project comprised the construction of New-Build residential accommodation, a new Youth Enterprise Centre, Classroom Accommodation and a purpose built Music Studio. Metrics were appointed to provide full Employer’s Agent services from inception though to the successful completion of the project.
The project was competitively tendered using the Client’s Framework Contractors and was procured using the JCT Design and Build 2011 form of Contract.
The residential part of the development comprised the construction of one-bed flats, within a three-storey residential wing and included common kitchen and lounge areas.
The majority of the ground floor accommodation comprised a new Youth Enterprise Centre consisting of 350 m2 of workshops, multi-purpose activity rooms and associated welfare facilities.
Located at first floor level was college accommodation for Coleg Llandrillo that provided 300m2 of classroom space together with IT and Arts and Crafts Rooms.
This was a ’Brownfield’ site having had a former depot located upon it, which was demolished prior to construction works commencing.
The residential part of the development was designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Good’ rating and an ‘Excellent’ rating in terms of energy usage. The remaining elements of the project were all designed to achieve the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ environmental standard.
Work commenced in April 2013 and was completed in August 2015.
