This development comprised a new Retail Unit and Restaurant to replace existing retail accommodation on the site that was formerly operating from temporary buildings.
The building had good ‘Green Credentials’ utilising ground source heating, high performance timber frame construction and the development was designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard.
Externally the building was clad with cedar cladding, through-coloured render and natural rubble stone walling. Roof finishes comprised natural slates.
The new accommodation provided a shop with butcher’s counter and delicatessen as well as a new 60 seat restaurant. Externally, an award winning ‘grab and go’ burger bar was created together with a large patio area and children’s play area.
Siteworks comprised a large patio/seating area, new roads and hardstandings, loading areas and new vehicle parking areas.
Works commenced on site in May 2011 and the project was completed by Christmas 2011. The development was procured using a Design and Build Contract.
On this project, Metrics were appointed as CDM Co-ordinators.
