Summary:
This project comprised a new Care Home facility offering nursing care beds, EMI beds, intermediate care beds, palliative care beds and short term “respite” beds.
The development consisted of a new two-storey building providing 80 single bedrooms with en-suite facilities. In addition it also provided a restaurant, small retail area, treatment room and rehabilitation suite, library and life-long learning facilities.
As well as being a state of the art care facility for the 21st century, the building was designed to be environmentally friendly. The structure included renewable materials utilising a timber frame and partial timber cladding. The building services included a ‘biomass boiler’ that burnt renewable timber and a rainwater harvesting system that collected and reused ‘grey water’, distributing it throughout the building.
Construction commenced on site in June 2006 and was completed in May 2007.
Metrics provided full Quantity Surveying services on this project from inception to completion.
